Over 1100 backlink opportunities for website owners

I keep thinking to myself “there must be a better way of getting a Google #1 ranking than building hundreds of backlinks for ‘website maintenance services’ to thinkdave.com”. But there isn’t a better way. You either add great content and build good links, or you flounder on page 100 of Google’s results. Building links is boring, but it works.

And with that in mind, here are a few resources to help you build your own mind-numbingly boring backlinks:

  1. The D-List: The D-List is a list of blogs that provide Dofollow links (backlinks that search engines recognise) back to your website every time you comment on any of the blogs. I found the D-list on Courtney Tuttle’s excellent Internet Marketing blog, and I’ve built a few good links using it. In fact, Courtney’s blog is probably one of the places you should visit regularly if you’re at all interested in Internet Marketing.
  2. AddURL: SEOFusion’s AddURL is a list of free online directories. Currently there are 880 directories listed, and the list is updated regularly. If you’re feeling rich you can buy a submission to the entire list for around £150.
  3. UltraReview’s 100 Dofollow forums: If you want to make friends or business contacts online, forums are a great place to start. And thanks to this great list of 100 forums that provide Dofollow links, you can improve your search engine rankings at the same time.

If you use every one of the link resources provided in the 3 lists above, you could build over 1100 links to your website, which would definitely improve your search engine rankings. That’s assuming you don’t die of boredom first.

One comment so far. Your turn.

Friday website workout: link building in 20 minutes

One of the oldest and simplest ways of building backlinks to your website is to add listings to online directories. Directory submissions are boring and tedious (hence the reason I charge £135 for 500 manual submissions) but they do work.

If you can find 20 minutes every Friday to add your website to 10 directories, you should start to see an increase in website traffic and search engine rankings within a few months.

Where to find online directories

I’ve made finding suitable online directories easy by listing 10 of them below. Simply click on the links and add your details to each directory. If you’re looking for more, you can search Google for free directory submissions. Or simply wait until next Friday when I’ll have another 10 submission links ready for you.

Important information

You need to supply a directory with information about your website so that it can enter the listing. You can save time by preparing the following information in advance:

  • Your site title.
  • A description of your site.
  • A few descriptive keywords.
  • Your name.
  • Your email address.

On most directories you’ll be asked to select a category to be listed in. Take the time to choose carefully. It helps.

Free submissions only

Seen as you’re on a micro business budget, make sure you only choose the free submission options with each directory. It takes a bit longer to get listed, but the savings are huge.

Some directories may also ask for a reciprocal link back to the directory. If you have a links page on your website and you can provide a reciprocal link, do so. Personally I don’t like the idea of reciprocal linking so I generally skip any submission requiring it.

This weeks list

Each of the links in the list below open up in a new window, so if you’ve got a pop-up blocker switched on, now would be the time to disable it.

  1. One Corps
  2. Dukegi Directory
  3. Desir Directory
  4. Adaufghanistan Directory
  5. Green Worm General Directory
  6. NS8.biz Directory
  7. Zingery Web Directory
  8. Evil Directory
  9. Ebba Web Directory
  10. Anaximander Directory

A warning

I can’t gaurantee that these directories will still be in business when you try to submit. You may also get some annoying pop-up adverts on some of the sites. Unfortunately that’s life in the directory submission business.

It shouldn’t take you more than 20 minutes to complete this list so get to it! Then take the rest of the week off.
